I didn’t remember Free at all, but he had a great jumper, thats more of a pure jumper to me. you don’t see that these days. def one of those guys you don’t hear about. But def agree, those guys back then were way better than they are given credit. Magic’s first game looked like he had been a laker for 5 years already. Kobe sure wasn’t like that out of the gate. But he was a little younger. Not bashing Kobe though, he deserves major prop as far as I’m concerned.

I always liked Brent Musburger, but if he had one flaw it was that he used to be very effusive and exuberant in talking about a player he liked. Here with Magic, he’s promoting him in a way that’s about as subtle as a kick in the nuts. Now, it’s a good thing to promote the good players, but the good players promote themselves with their great play, so when you go on and on it seems like you’re pandering. He did the same thing with Ken Griffey Jr. in the 1995 ALDS between the Yanks & Seattle

@ErikS1975FreeState i knew he was going to be special in college. the 1st time i ever saw Magic was in that ‘79 NCAA Championship Game. i saw Larry Bird a few times prior to that game and heard of Magic through word of mouth. Dick Enberg talked about him a lot during that tournament(NBC carried the tournament back then). Greg Kelser was the X-factor in that game. Without Kelser, they may not have won that game.
