I remember watching the game and being in awe of the move he puts on Sprewell.

not exactly. magic played second half of the season 95/96, and Kobe was drafted right after he retired again.

The ball fake Magic put on Sprewell was criminal, lol. Sprewell’s career was never quite the same after that…

@Biggerb225
Magic was past his prime which was about 87-88 and Worthy was in decline. Magic lost because his OPPONENTS also had HOFs. 83 Sixers had FOUR (Dr. J, Mo Cheeks, Moses, Bobby Jones), 84 Celtics had FOUR (Bird, McHale, Parish, DJ), 89 Pistons had two (Isiah and Dumars…should be three with Rodman) and the Lakers were decimated by injury…and the 91 Bulls had Jordan and Pippen to Magic and Worthy.

@Biggerb225
Furthermore…Jordan dominated a league diluted by expansion (Hornets, T-Wolves, Magic, Heat, Grizzlies, and Raptors) and rule changes. He beat a never beat a team with a legit center in the Finals and his toughest challenge was a Jazz team that couldn’t even get to the CONFERENCE FINALS in Magic’s era. How many HOF’s did Jordan deal with after Magic? One in 92, one in 93, one in 96 and old Malone and Stockton in 97/98. Please…Jordan feasted after Bird and Magic’s teams got old.

@cbaldwinjr How do you know the Bulls couldn’t have beaten the Lakers with Magic? MJ was scoring like 35 ppg at that time in his career. They never got to play each other in the playoffs because of the Pistons which, because of their “Jordan Rules” was mainly just a bad match-up for the Bulls. Also, why is it important that MJ never faced a “legit center” in the finals? He had to play against a young Shaq and a Hakeem in his prime in the regular season and Ewing in the playoffs almost every year

@Kuno1923124
Ummm…because the Bulls never had anyone decent in the middle! Cartwright, Wennington, Longley, etc. You think it’s a coincidence that the only teams that really gave the younger Bulls trouble were the Knicks and Patrick Ewing? Jordan conveniently retired (or suspended) when the Rockets (a team that would’ve given his teams hell) were making their run. As for Magic…umm, better team better era. Why do you think Jordan couldn’t sniff a title until Bird and Magic got older?

@cbaldwinjr
They still beat the Knicks year after year with those guys. Also, if the Rockets were so good, how come the Bulls still beat them after Jordan came back? I admit that the Bulls can attribute some of their success to the decline of Magic and Bird (and aging of the Pistons) but I think the real reason the Bulls became a championship team is because of Scottie. He didn’t really start to develop until the early 90s. I think the Bulls were an 80s caliber team playing against 90s defenses

the year before Kobe was drafted. The year before Shaq signed with the Lakers. Why couldnt Magic have played at least a little the next season so those 3 couldve been on the same team?

@TUFFGUYS1 No, this was the 95-96 season, Kobe was drafted 13th overall by Charlotte in 96-97, and was subsequentally traded for Vlade Divac to the Lakers right afterwards.
