NBA Playoffs 2012, Round 1 / Game 5 Lakers – Nuggets 2012/05/10

I own none of this content. This was one of the two most memorable Laker games that I have ever attended (the other being the lone time I was fortunate enough to see Magic Johnson play in person). Watching Kobe dismantle the Kings in what was then his best ever playoff game instantly made him my favorite player. I will always remember the fadeaway three he hit over Nick Anderson, which as a kid, seemed to me as if it had been attempted from half court. One of the most memorable experiences from my childhood, and I wanted to make a highlight reel in honor of that. Enjoy. Statline: 32 points 12/20 shooting 3/3 three point shooting 4 rebounds 1 assist 2 steals

I own none of this content. A brief display of the incredible court vision and instincts that made Magic Johnson and the Lakers the NBA’s greatest winners of the 1980’s. This shows highlights dating back to his high school days. The background song is the instrumental version of Atmosphere’s “National Disgrace.” Enjoy!

1984 – 1985 Season During his first season in the NBA, Jordan averaged 28.2 ppg on 51.5% shooting. He quickly became a fan favorite even in opposing arenas, and appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the heading “A Star is Born” just over a month into his professional career. Jordan was also voted in as an All-Star starter by the fans in his rookie season. Controversy arose before the All-Star game when word surfaced that several veteran players, led by Isiah Thomas, were upset by the amount of attention Jordan was receiving. This led to a so called “freeze-out” on Jordan, where players refused to pass him the ball throughout the game. The controversy left Jordan relatively unaffected when he returned to regular season play, and he would go on to be voted Rookie of the Year. The Bulls finished the season 38–44, and lost in the first round of the playoffs in four games to the Milwaukee Bucks. en.wikipedia.org
